Company / Management / Management Board
Mr. Bormann is a Berliner by birth. He spent his childhood in both parts of Germany, East and West, and then lived in Tunisia. After graduating from a French school, he went to Paris to study at the Institut d’Études Politiques, majoring in economics and finance.
He embarked on his career with Barings investment bank (1993-1995), working in its Sales division in Paris and in London. This was followed by activities for ABN Amro, as well as, Donaldson, Lufkin and Jenrette (DLJ). From 2001 until 2003, he ran the European unit of the Asian Equity division at Lehman Brothers, operating from London and Frankfurt. He was responsible for the company’s expansion in Asia and, as a result of the strong focus on real estate that many Asian stock markets exhibit, he was able to attain an in-depth knowledge of real estate cycles, real estate companies and their valuation.
Attracted by the pioneering spirit and open atmosphere of the city, Mr. Bormann decided to return to Berlin in 2004. He founded ORCO Germany, a subsidiary of the ORCO Property Group, with the objective of benefitting from the historic opportunities that the Berlin real estate market was offering and in fact continues to offer.
Following a strong growth phase in the field of residential properties, Mr. Bormann then tackled the divisions Commercial Property, Asset Management and Project Development. The latter implements projects such as the Fehrbelliner Höfe in Mitte and Haus Cumberland on Kurfürstendamm. These activities also led to the acquisition of Viterra Development, which not only came with a portfolio of renowned properties and projects in five major German cities – it also meant that a team of highly qualified real estate experts joined ORCO Germany. In the meantime, the volume of properties being developed in Berlin has reached approximately EUR 260 million.
ORCO Germany has made it its objective to develop into a leading real estate company founded on the pillars of “Investment” and “Project Development”. As a good corporate citizen, the company is aware of its responsibility and intends to bring it to bear in Berlin, which will be at the focus of its activities.
Mr. Bormann is married to a Frenchwoman and has two children.
